  • Good written and verbal communication

Desirable Skills:

  • A solid understanding of digital signal processing (DSP)

  • Experience in CUDA development

  • Experience with MATLAB

  • Experience with protocols used in satcom, e.g. DVB-S2, the CCSDS protocols, etc

You should be comfortable leading your own development and researching the topics required for your work on your own. It would also be beneficial if you have a general interest in space communications and have undertaken personal projects in the subject, but this is certainly not mandatory.

Purpose and Responsibilities of the Role

Quasar’s GSaaS technology platform includes satellite planning, scheduling and visualisation applications, middleware/APIs, virtual hosting, networking, telecomunications enclosures, space-domain awareness applications, software defined radios, cloud-based data processing, system monitoring and physical systems deployment.

As a CUDA Developer you will be working within a small team of developers working in two primary areas:

  • Software defined radios (SDR) – specifically for the development of software modems used in satcom; and

  • Space-domain awareness (SDA) – used to identify the characteristics of objects in Earth orbit.

This will require you to:

  • Understand the satellite and space business particularly in the areas of satellite communications

  • Bring or develop skills in digital signal processing

  • Work with the team in setting up and maintaining our ground station environments

  • Collaborate with the technical teams from our partner organisations

  • Assist with system and user acceptance testing

  • Write technical documentation, including design, configuration, test and as-built documentation

  • Travel occasionally to ground station sites throughout Australia and possibly abroad

We offer you:

  • An extremely challenging work environment

  • Professional growth in all areas of IT not just in the ares of SDR or SDA

  • The opportunity to become an early integral member in the Australian space industry

  • Technical and industry training where it is needed

  • A relaxing, non-bureaucratic environment

  • Defence clearance where needed
